The Finnish “first-screen” technology and leading Malaysian OTT-platform to bring the innovative social layer to its audience.
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – On Friday the 8th of December, tonton announced a strategic partnership with Camment® in front of Malaysian media, top influencers, celebrities and Media Prima management.
Tonton, Malaysia’s 1st and largest home grown video streaming service by the country’s leading Malaysian media house, Media Prima Berhad, with over 7.5 million registered users, will be the first OTT provider in the region to introduce Camment®, a technology which allows users to interact with other tonton users, using video messages called Camments.
“Gone are the days of streaming your favourite shows and Live TV on tonton all alone.” says Ben Jern Loh, tonton general manager.
“The technology allows for intelligent social marketing where brands can partner with the platform to advertise content based on the interaction between (tonton) users through voice recognition technology.” he continues.
For media, who are losing out on eye pairs and attention to second screens Camment® provides a way to retain and engage their audience, in-screen.
“We are very excited bringing Camment to the Malaysian market. tonton is the perfect partner for us, with their large audience, and with a team focused on innovating. Together we can hopefully bring much value to the viewers” says Tomi Kaukinen, CEO & Co-founder of Camment.
Camment® is a patent pending video-chat plug for broadcasting platforms, powered by AI. It serves as a first screen solution where viewers can communicate with their friends using video comments (Camments). Combined with AI and speech recognition it allows avantgarde marketing and audience engagement for broadcasters.
Camment operates from Helsinki, Finland with branches in Singapore and Barcelona.
Camment investors include VC Superhero Capital and European business angel of the year 2014 Jari Ovaskainen. It is also backed by the Finnish Agency for Technology and Innovation (Tekes).
Tonton is Malaysia’s 1st and largest home grown video streaming service with over 7.55 million users and is experiencing a growth of over 18,000 members weekly with a recent expansion into Singapore and Brunei Darussalam.
